We are kicking off the new year imagining the myriad of possibilities that comes with owning your own home.
Interestingly, one of the things I hear the most often from buyers when we are going through the process is, “Oh my God, I can paint my walls any color I want!” Yes! Yes, you can.
I still smile at my failed attempt to create a serene “sea glass green” bathroom shortly after we moved into our current home. While sea glass may have been the original inspiration, the reality was more akin to a McDonald’s “Shamrock Shake green.” In fact, when Bud saw the finished product, he said, “You know, if Pepto Bismol came in green, it would definitely be this shade.” Whoops!
You know what? So what! It’s just paint. And a teeny, tiny soul crushing realization that I would have to repaint it. Bad color selection makes a great painter. I actually really enjoy painting and have been know to pitch in with painting duties in my listings as well as helping my buyers tackle a wall or two. There is no other home improvement project that I can think of that costs so little, and can have such a major impact on the living space as painting.
